چکیده

ODP Site 762 (eastern Indian Ocean) includes a section of sediment that spans the Cenomanian-Turonian Boundary (CTB) and was deposited along a continental margin during a period of widespread oceanic 09. deficiency. The rare earth element (REE) content of preand post-boundary sediment is similar to that of present-day continental slope material deposited in well-oxygenated seawater, whereas the CTB section is characterized by significantly depleted REE abundances, a bulk Ce anomaly that increases to maximum of 1.0, and a REE pattern that resembles that of present-day fluvial material. We suggest the change in REE patterns reflects release of scavenged REEs upon reductive dissolution of authigenic Fe-Mn oxyhydroxides, such that sediment deposited uring the CTB is dominated by the lithogenous REE fraction. These results are consistent with recent models concerning pervasive fractionation of Mn and Fe and redirection of Mn in pelagic CTB waters.

Analysis of the Earth Dams Function against the Effects of Long-Term Deposition in Reservoirs (Polrood Earth Dam-Guilan Province)

Estimation of sediment transport load due to erosion in river basins is one of the issues which is indispensable for many projects related to water resources, soil and damps construction. With regards to the phenomenon of erosion and transmission Sedimentation in rivers has always led to deformation in the seaboard and sedimentation, so the management and planning in bank of rivers is important...

Variation of Lithosphere-Asthenosphere boundary beneath Iran by using S Receiver function

The current geological and tectonic setting of Iran is due to the ongoing convergence between the Arabian and Eurasian Plates, which resulted in the formation of the Iranian plateau, mountain building, extensive deformation and seismicity. The Iranian plateau is characterized by various domains including the continental collision and the oceanic plate seduction. Based on S receiver functions ar...

Overland Flow Using Rare Earth Element

14 15 Rare earth element oxides (REOs) have excellent potential for use as tracers in 16 erosion studies. Using laboratory and field experiments we aimed to develop and test 17 a simple application method for spreading REOs and to use REOs to determine the 18 source of sediment to concentrated overland flow paths. 19 Tracks left by farm machinery (tramlines) in fields act as concentrated flow 2...

From the subtropics to the central equatorial Pacific Ocean: neodymium isotopic composition and rare earth element concentration variations

[1] Neodymium isotopic compositions (eNd) and rare earth element (REE) concentrations were measured for filtered surface to deep waters (112 samples) in the Southern Tropical Pacific. The relatively detailed picture of these tracer distributions allowed us to refine the areas where oceanic eNd variations occur. eNd values increase for most of the water masses flowing from Samoa to the Solomon S...

Rare earth element composition as evidence of the precursor material of Cretaceous–Tertiary boundary sediments at distal sections

The Chicxulub impact event led to a worldwide deposition of impact materials originated from target rocks and the vaporized bolide. Relative contributions of both types of material to the K/T ejecta deposits vary with distance to the crater site. At distal sites (e.g., Agost and Caravaca in the SE of Spain) a major contribution of extraterrestrial material is indicated by different impact signa...
